What do you get when you cross a sighthound with a non-sighthound? Answer: a Lurcher.
Meet Lurchers: sighthound crosses (usually Greyhounds with Collies or Terriers) that originated in Europe and maintain their popularity there. Lurchers were bred by Romany Gypsies at a time when only the nobility were owners of purebred sighthounds, such as Greyhounds. These dogs are strong and can excel in both hunting and herding.
The Lurcher is not commonly found in the US, and NYCityPets could only find 6 listed on Dogster (including these great dogs, Darby and Duke the Lurcher).
Do you have a Lurcher? Tell us what you love about your special (sight)hound.

I have a lurcher called Max. He is only a pup and he is very loyal and well behaved.
We are still training him, but he is very intelligent and he learns fast.
