Event: Halloween Harvest Festival

PinkPoodle.jpgAh, Halloween. The time of year when people look at us like we are completely nuts for dressing our pets up in cute costumes. Is it your favorite time of year too?

We’ll do our best to post about the myriad of Halloween events out there for pets through October. First, we have the Halloween Harvest Festival in Queens.

The 6th annual Halloween Harvest Festival invites children and families to make a costume and paint a pumpkin with Socrates Sculpture Park artists; watch a performance by the Hungry March Band; participate in a special artmaking workshop by Materials for the Arts; listen to creepy tunes with DJ Luz Mob; take your picture with Sasquatch; have your tarot cards read and your hands painted with henna; transform your face with face painting by Agostino Arts; dress up your dog for the second annual Canine Costume Contest; adopt a dog from BARC Shelter; and try harvest foods from Sage American Kitchen.

Or train your cat to use the toilet: CitiKitty.com Don’t believe that a toilet-trained cat will help you land that perfect apartment in NYC, however…

Broker: This is not a pet-friendly property.
Girl: Does it matter if my cat is toilet-trained?
Broker: I don’t understand.
Girl: My cat doesn’t have a litter box. It uses the toilet. Does that help?
Broker: I am not sure if that makes a difference. How did you do it?
Girl: I used a training kit. CitiKitty.
Broker: It might impress the owner, but I am not sure it makes a difference. Does your cat flush?
Girl: It will if that helps me get the apartment.

But beware, your cat might start obsessing over the swirling toilet bowl.

So which one would work better for your kitty?

Cimbi
You may recognize Cimbi from Harlem Fur.
Her owners, Chris and Cheryl, are unable to keep her in their home due to very severe allergies. If you know of a good home in need of a cat, touch base with Chris.
Cimbi is good with other cats, dogs, leashed walks, and doing other cat-type activities. We’ve met Cimbi several times and can attest to her soft, rabbit-like fur and her joie de vivre. If only our dog would not confuse Cimbi with a squirrel (or Manhattan rat!).
