This blurry photo from today was taken tonight in the Times Square station. The orange and white kitten is just weeks old. The man is sitting at the base of a staircase with a hat for collecting money.
Do you pay the man and get the kitten to a safe, warm home? Or will he just show up with a new kitten tomorrow? Grr.

That man ALWAYS has different cats and then they just disappear. He’s had kittens, different colors and also adults (orange, b/w, etc.). He usually leaves his feces encrusted carrier around the corner - if he even has one.
It’s New York. Obviously there’s more than that one kitten without a home. You don’t have to assume the worst the worst about. And if people do pick up the cat to find them a good home then that’s a positive thing that’s happened.
