Finding a Bed to Rest Her Head

This holiday season one of the items on our wishlist was a new bed for the girl. After a few accidents (shh, don’t tell her I told you she is a bed-wetter), and serious bone-burying into the old, round bed, it had nothing left to give. I really mean nothing! The old stuffed cedar-lined ball was in the trash long ago and it was replaced by several blankets. A most lumpy arrangement.
The new dog bed did not arrive as hoped this holiday, so the quest began for a suitable dog bed (a cuddler or nester-style bed) that would not break the bank.![]()

Here are a few that you might like that we just could not afford:

Here was the winner for us (cost: $30, from Target):
Can you tell if she likes it or not? She already broke it in! And by that, I mean she chewed a hole in the pillow.
Pet Shop: Pet Central

On a cozy block of 76th Street just off Broadway you can find a new pet supply called Pet Central. I am pleasantly surprised to find that they both carry the dog food I buy and they have the lowest price around! This isn’t to say that all of their prices are lowest on every item, but I can tell you that the service is nice and they have free delivery too (in their area). This Pet Central is the newest of their 5 locations in Manhattan (website currently under re-construction).
Can you imagine shopping in such a crowded store (see photo)? Well, if not, you are not looking for pet supplies in NYC! Pet Central is at 235 West 76th Street. Phone: 212-712-1707

Kya’s Collars are fun and perfect for that beer connoisseur or playful dog you know and love. We met up with Heidi on the street in Soho and she says many of her customers are tourists. Maybe you have a local dog that would look great in one of her collars? Check out her online shop or find her booth on a warm day in Soho!

Pet Fashion: Trixie + Peanut

Trixie and Peanut know how to set up shop.
We visited this trendy spot for pet fashionistas recently and really enjoyed the selection of goodies for both cats and dogs.
If you aren’t able to make it to the store, they have a great website with an equally fun selection of items.
Our mission for shopping at T & P was to pick up a Mayor’s Woof Dog Hoodie.
100% of the proceeds of the Woof Hoodies support the transport van the Mayor’s Alliance uses to move homeless animals between shelters, rescues, adoption events, and veterinary appointments.
Although our pooch has never sported anything as funky as a woof hoodie before, we are sure she will wear it with pride as she shows her support for the Mayor’s Alliance.
Stop in and visit Peanut and Chili sometime. They love visitors!
